The Autism Support Unit (ASU) caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Personalised Learning Plans are developed twice a year in partnership with parents and carers to support the educational, social and emotional needs of each student. All students follow the DoE curriculum, with adjustments, according to their individual needs.
Each class has an experienced teaching team consisting of a class teacher and student learning support officer (SLSO). In addition, specialist support staff provide further individualised support and learning programs, including speech and occupational therapy. Class sizes are capped at seven students per class to ensure each student reaches their potential.
